Malala Yousafzai born 12 July 1997, a Pakistani school pupil and education activist, is the youngest winner ever of the Nobel Peace Prize in 2014.

From the town of Mingora in Pakistan, Malala is known for her activism to support rights for women’s education, especially in the Swat Valley. There, local Taliban had at times banned girls from attending school. On the afternoon of 9 October 2012, Malala boarded her school bus in the northwest Pakistani district of Swat and a cowardly Taliban soldier tried to kill her. Their goal was to keep Malala from learning to read and write and prevent her from teaching other children to read and write also. Malala survived and became a more powerful spokesperson for children’s education rights than any person her age in the world. Malala is smart and successful.
